In July 1976, an Air France flight from Tel-Aviv to Paris via Athens was hijacked and forced to land in Entebbe, Uganda. Jewish passengers onboard were separated out for hostage-taking demanding that many terrorists held by Israeli prisons be released; following much discussion among officials the Israeli government dispatched an elite commando unit with orders to raid Entebbe's airfield to release hostages and free the passengers held hostage.
