After being responsible for an incident that leads to him losing his job, assistant basketball coach Marcus Marakovich is given a choice by a judge of either serving prison time or doing community service coaching a team with learning disabilities. Marcus initially finds coaching this team difficult at first but as time goes on he realizes they are more than their skills on the court and becomes friends with their members.
